instinct
generally it is a powerful system 1 tool that can achieve big things without even thinking, but:
false instinct
throughout evolution our brain learn to protect us from getting hurt (danger, risk, fear, pain, shame, stress, …) and develops its protective instincts. although they are meant to serve us but sometimes they backfire and become an obstacle to us.
there are many situations that my logical reasonable brain understands i have to undertake sth unwanted and accept its biproducts like danger, risk, fear, pain, shame, stress, … to achieve sth greater. but that instinct don’t really understand reason and can mislead us by preventing our encounter with those dangers.
